Features In-Depth

10 Bearing System

The Pflueger President reels are equipped with ten corrosion-resistant, stainless steel ball bearings. This system works on providing you with the smoothest retrieve possible.

However, these bearings are not sealed, so it's advised to use this reel in freshwater. And if you're going to use it in saltwater, you should thoroughly rinse it afterward.

Graphite Rotor and Body

The graphite body and rotor of this reel are essential parts and are the reason that makes its various models both light and durable.

Braid-Ready Spool

The President comes with a ported aluminum braid-ready spool. This allows you to tie the braid directly to the spool by using the rubber grommets without a mono backing.

Sure-Click Heavy Duty Aluminum Bail

The Sure Click Bail on the Pflueger President is made from heavy-duty aluminum to make the reel more durable. It produces an audible click that lets you know the bail is open and ready to cast.

Make sure to close the bail after you cast to extend the lifespan for the reel.

Stainless Steel Oil-Felt Drag

This provides the reel with consistent drag pressure and makes it resist corrosion.

Soft Touch Ergonomic Knob

To make it easy to grip the knob, the President comes with a soft-touch ergonomic one. It has a very simple yet effective dimpled design that makes it fit right into your hands.

Aluminum Handle

The handle is made from aircraft-grade aluminum which makes it super durable.

Available Sizes

The Pflueger President comes in 5 models of different sizes and capabilities.

This model is the lightest at 5.9 ounces and is the only exception to the 10-bearing system as it only has seven bearings.

Its maximum drag capacity is 6 pounds, and the gear ratio is 5.2:1. It recovers 20.7 inches of line per turn.

For the braided line, it can handle 125/6, and for mono, it can handle 80/6.

The 25X weighs 7.2 ounces and can drag up to 6 pounds. Its gear ratio is 5.2:1, and it retrieves 22.4 inches of line per crank.

It has a braid capacity of 140/6 and a mono capacity of 90/6.

Weighing 8.3 ounces, the 30X can drag up to 9-pound fish at a speed of 25.2 inches of line recovered per crank. Its gear ratio is 5.2:1, braid capacity is 275/6 and mono capacity is 145/6.

Final Thoughts

If you’re a beginner or if you’re on a very limited budget, the Pflueger President would be a pretty good choice for you.

It’s not the best reel you can get on the market, but it still provides you with a great fishing experience.

And although it’s not sealed for saltwater use, you can still use it for saltwater fishing as long as you make sure you rinse it thoroughly and provide it with proper maintenance after.
